25th - 4th March New Delhi World Book Fair
New Delhi, India
Nielsen set up its Nielsen BookScan operation in New Delhi during 2010. Since then the team has developed and now not only services and promotes the Nielsen BookScan product range, but has extended its role to include the collection of metadata and the sale of Nielsen’ BookData Information and Nielsen BookNet Transaction Services in India.
Vikrant Mathur, Associate Director, runs the small but very efficient and hardworking team and for the first time since the office was established we attended one of India’s major events – the New Delhi World Book Fair. This is a biannual event and so we were delighted we could participate. The local team was ably assisted by Simon Skinner, Sales Director of Nielsen BookData Services and Peter Mathews Editorial and Publishing Services Manager.

29th Independent BookSellers Forum
Edinburgh
We attended the annual Independent Booksellers Forum hosted by the Booksellers Association, attracting a number of independent booksellers from Scotland and wider afield. Reeta Windsor explained the market in 2011 and the categories that are performing well and some that aren’t. Our Nielsen BookScan sales data collection is free to participating retailers and in return bookshops receive back the Top 5,000 and the Top 100 Independent Chart. |
